Cook At Home

Cook At Home

Generally, in the United States, we have lost that balance of striving for a healthy diet due to the bombardment of heavy schedules at work, variety of school activities for the kids, long commutes and waits in traffic to and from work or home.

An unhealthy diet is a major risk factor for certain chronic diseases like diabetes.  Foods high in fats, cholesterol, sodium, added sugars, and the use of saturated fats and trans fats, can lead to artery clogging in the heart over a period of time leading to stroke or heart attack. Not eating enough fruits and vegetables can lead to certain types of cancer.   Three major causes of death includes:

We tend to live a sedentary lifestyle at home by watching television or indulging in activities that doesn't require any physical movement...no wonder there's barely any time to cook at home, exercise, let alone get a good night sleep.

According to the USDA, a healthy diet emphasizes fruits, vegetables, whole grain, lean meats such as chicken, fish, beans, eggs, and nuts; and it is low in saturated fats, trans fat, cholesterol, salt (sodium), and added sugar.
